December 2024

Dear Family & Friends,

The beautiful colored leaves have fallen from the trees nearby, and at times the snow has covered the ground.  It must be almost the end of another year, and I turned 94 just a few days ago.

Last year we spent Christmas week as a family in Bowling Green, Kentucky, because that’s where Andrew was doing his clinical work in a hospital, and it was a beautiful place to join him.  We only missed Ben and Amanda, as Ben was busy in El Paso, and only had one day off.

This year we were busy with their graduations.  First, Andrew became a Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia in Nashville.

The next weekend, the family joined together in Fort Worth for Ben’s graduation.

So now we have two more doctors in the family.  Andrew and Kami Kay will be working in Portland, Maine.

Ben and Amanda will be in Ohio.

Kandice and Jason have plenty to do in San Diego with nursing and physical therapy, besides taking care of Ramona and Ender, who are now five and three years old, and enjoying Preschool.

Krista and Brendon  have enjoyed sharing a  lot of Alaska with Bella while living near Anchorage, where Brendon is a Physical Therapist, and Krista works as a nurse.

While I spend most of my time in Maine with Lanita and Norman Medina,

I did make a short trip out to California to visit my family and friends there in September and October, and enjoyed Christian Women's Retreat.

The train ride is always fun!

I really enjoyed all the fresh tomatoes and other veggies from Diana’s garden!

I also got to do many laps around the outside of the house with Freddie.

Daniel and Glorianna with their three little boys, Wyatt, Weston, and Wesley were visitors from Washington state for a few days also.

The boys enjoyed watching a young buck which came right up to the bedroom window, looking curious, apparently liking the sounds of happy children.

While I was in California, I got to visit briefly with Boots and Russ.  They are enjoying retirement in Reno, and Deana is keeping busy at home.  Her girls are busy also, with Gillian working on her Masters degree in Salt Lake City, and Emilia working and doing some Karate after graduating from UNR.

While Troy and Maryann live in Lexington, KY to be near their grandchildren Eli, Owen, and Hailee, who were joined a year ago by Margot, but Laurel still manages to work as a nurse practitioner and teach some.

Troy and Maryann do manage to travel quite a bit.

They just got back from a two week Hawaiian cruise with Gloria and Vern Weldy.

In April, Lanita drove me to Houlton, Maine, near the Canadian border, where we watched in amazement a total solar eclipse.

It was very sudden, becoming dark for 2 minutes and 8 seconds before becoming bright again.

On Labor Day weekend, Lanita & Norman drove me through small quaint Maine towns to the easternmost U.S. town of Lubec, to fulfill my wish to visit the Quoddy Lighthouse.

I’m hoping you have all had a good year with many blessings in the year to come.

With Love,

~ Betty Adams ~
