December, 2005 Greetings! The days were passing and unseasonably warm weather was still allowing us to pick tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, green beans and corn from our garden even though Thanksgiving had come and gone. Then one night Jack Frost came to visit and we realized that the calendar was right and it really was almost the end of another year. Even though we live in California we have enjoyed a beautiful display of color on many of the trees and grapevines this fall. What a blessing that each season of the year has its own special type of beauty!
The last weekend in May found 12 members of the Adams and Medina families gathered at DayStar Academy near Moab, Utah for Daniel Adams graduation. (Back: Linda Adams, Kandice Medina, Krista Medina, Norman Medina, Lanita Medina, Kami Kay Medina, Celian Adams, Diana Adams, Betty Adams. Front: Ben Medina, Daniel Adams, Fred Adams)
Since this is a small school and there were only two graduates, the services were very personalized including the black cowboy hats which the boys chose to wear instead of the traditional caps.
Some family time was spent hiking on the near-by colorful mesas and rappelling down a steep cliff. (Seven-year-old Kami Kay wasn't afraid to rappel down this 70-foot vertical cliff!)
After a few weeks working in this area, Daniel flew back to Maine where he has been taking a course in flight training and should soon have his pilots license.
Spending a few days visiting and working around here before joining a
missionary pilot friend in Venezuela are among his future plans.
From Utah we flew to Fort Lauderdale, Florida where
along with daughters Linda and Lanita and grand daughters Kandice, Krista, and Kami Kay we
enjoyed being pampered on a four day cruise. Our Carnival cruise ship, Inspiration,
featured stops in Key West and Cozumel, Mexico. After two weeks away, it was time for us
to get home and start planting garden.
Lanitas life has been filled with activities connected with her Creative Memories home business. In January she flew on an all expense paid trip to San Diego after being invited to give a talk to several hundred CM consultants. Ben, Krista, and Kami Kay accompanied her while Linda and Betty joined her there and we were proud when she received a standing ovation after her talk. Included in this trip were also a two-day visit to Disneyland and visits with friends in southern California.
In May it was time for a trip to Maine for Betty and Linda, arriving the day after the Medinas moved back into their newly remodeled home.
Then Lanita and Norman were off to Salzberg, Austria for a hard-earned trip from her business while we enjoyed the four grandchildren since Kandice was now home from her first year of college. A highlight of
this visit was hearing a final concert of the Northern New England Youth Ensemble where
Ben played string bass. He continues to play his bass at Blue Mountain Academy in
Pennsylvania where hes studying this year. He's also learning to play the cello.
Minneapolis was the next destination for Betty and Linda where they met the Medina family in August. The occasion this time was CM Showcase where Lanita was honored by receiving her Senior Director chair. She and her daughters were a hit dressed in their colorful Mexican Chiapaneca dresses for the closing ceremonies.
During many of these trips Celian was content to stay at home keeping busy with his garden, his old cars, and his old tractors. (Celian's newest toy - a home-built dozer-harrow)
Freddie and Diana live near by where Freddies latest activity has
been collecting facts and photos as he sets up an Adams web site on his computer.
As 2005 comes to an end we are thankful for our health, our family, and friends like each one of you. ~ Celian & Betty Adams ~ |
