Crisis Escalates for IRR Program

Hi Everyone,

I don't have much time right now, but at the same time I don't really need much time to update you on what has been going on.  The meeting on Monday the 19th was canceled because the military general was not going to come.  However, another meeting took place between the village Captains, our group, and the president, vice president, and secretary of the Venezuela Conference.  The Venezuela Union has decided that it would be best for us to leave the country as soon as possible before they come and kick us out by force.  Their reasons are very good ones too.

If we get deported there will be repercussions for the Adventist church in general and programs across Venezuela will be affected.  They want us to leave so that they work things out with the government without us here since we are the ones that brought the attention in the first place.  However, we asked for 3 days to wait and see the salvation of the Lord.  We have been given 3 days to get an appointment with the leaders of this country and resolve the problem.

If it does not happen then we pack up and head for Guyana.  The government there has almost given us the green light and we have no doubt that we will get it within the next couple of days.  But the village of Maurak does not want us to go.  They have been an incredible support to us and are continuing to fight for us.  We are seeing God's hand guiding but we cannot be completely 100% sure what His plan is.  But we are learning to trust everything to His powerful right hand.

I know all of you are praying for us, but we especially need prayer in the next couple of days.  We personally are not in any danger that I know of, however the future of the IRR program in Venezuela could very well be in danger.  But I know that God will work everything out according to His will.

So that is where we are at right now.  If something doesn't happen in the next couple of days, we will be on our way to Guyana by Monday.  Thanks so much for your prayers!

God bless!

In His Service,

          ~ Corrie ~
