Bound for Peru!

June 16, 2006

Hi Everyone!

As you all know, I am back in the U.S. for a couple of months after my Venezuela experience.  I am currently in Florida getting ready to begin my SCUBA training, which (believe it or not) is a requirement for my major :)

After finishing here I will be going to a family reunion in Tennessee then to a wedding in Washington.  Towards the end of July I will heading overseas again, this time to Peru (for 5 months).  In Peru I will be working on a medical mission launch on the Amazon river as an assistant to a Nurse Practitioner and a Health Educator.

Unfortunately, the move to a different country has caused some extra costs for tickets, monthly expenses while there, and insurance.  The amount that I have left in my student mission fund at Union College should cover the tickets, but there will not be enough to cover the $60/month food costs or the insurance.  However, I know that God will provide.

If any of you would like to help defray these costs, you can send donations to Union College Student Missions 3800 S. 48th St. Lincoln, NE 68506.  Checks should be made payable to Union College SM.  Also send a separate note letting the college know it is for my SM fund.

I am really looking forward to going to Peru because it will provide an education that exceeds anything I could ever hope to receive at college.   Besides which, it will feel like I'm going home.  As many of you know, I used to live on the Sepik river in Papua New Guinea which, from what I have heard, is similar in size and climate to the Amazon.

It is so awesome to watch how God has just opened all the doors.  All I did was to tell my mom that I was looking at other options for the last half of my year as an SM and the very next weekend the lady that chooses the staff for the mission launch was at my church.  My mom talked with her for a bit and now it is actually happening.  The tickets will be bought soon, Union College and the local conference have given permission, and the invitation from the staff of the launch has been given.

I am soooooo excited!  It is a dream come true.  But now I will let you all go.  I'm not extremely busy at this moment, but I don't want to ramble your eyes out :)  Thanks so much for your prayers and support.

In His service,

Corrie Sample
